Partnership for Central America Hosts Dialogue with President-Elect Bernardo Arévalo, U.S. Government, and Guatemala Business Leaders

WASHINGTON D.C., October 4, 2023 - In his first international visit since the election, President-Elect Bernardo Arévalo joined the Partnership for Central America to identify opportunities for collaboration to drive inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Guatemala. The forward-looking discussion resulted in the formation of PCA’s Guatemala Steering Committee and Project Management Office, which will focus on five key projects. A cross-cutting theme underscoring the discussion was leveraging the Partnership’s public-private partnership model to support vulnerable populations and empower women.

The dialogue brought together President-Elect Bernardo Arévalo and his leadership team with Dr. Rebecca Lissner, Deputy National Security Advisor to U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris; Blanca Trevino, Co-Chair of the Partnership for Central America and CEO of Softtek; representatives from the World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank; and leaders from AgroAmerica, Chobani, Corporación AG, Duolingo, Ford Foundation, Grupo Mariposa, Mastercard, Millicom (Tigo), Meta, and Pantaleon.

The Partnership looks forward to engaging further with the Arévalo Administration through collaborative efforts between the public, private and social sectors to advance economic growth and prosperity in the region.
