Marisol Argueta is the Head of Latin America and a member of the Executive Committee of the World Economic Forum, LLC. A lawyer and career Ambassador. Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador, the youngest registered in her country’s history to date, and the second woman to hold the position after a distinguished career in her country’s Foreign Service, having served as Director-General for Foreign Policy of El Salvador; Minister Counsellor, Embassy of El Salvador, Washington DC; Alternate Permanent Representative of El Salvador to the United Nations, New York. She holds a JD from Universidad Dr. Jose M. Delgado, El Salvador; a Postgraduate degree in Diplomacy, University of Oxford, UK, and further specialized studies at the International Peace Academy, Harvard University, Columbia University, and Wharton Business School. She was Assistant Professor of Constitutional Law and Political Law. Author of various articles on international affairs and regional integration. Member of the Aspen Institute’s Central American Leadership Initiative; Advisory Board member, Latin America Program, Woodrow Wilson Center, Washington DC; Advisory Board member, Latin America, and the Caribbean, United Nations Development Program, UNDP; Global Board member, Center for the Implementation of Public Policies for Equity and Growth, CIPPEC, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. She has also participated in various private businesses and philanthropic organizations’ non-executive boards. Argueta is regularly invited to lecture about Latin America and is listed among the most influential women by regional business publications, including Forbes, El Economista, and Estrategia y Negocios. Recipient of Government Decorations and private awards from Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Italy, El Salvador, and the USA. She is fully committed to the advancement of women in society and is passionate about her family and about nature.
